Wear tests on hydraulic components

To carry out wear tests on hydraulic components for the aerospace and automobile industries, an internationally-known research institute needed a pump that could satisfy several demanding requirements.

JET fuel must be pumped non-stop over a period of 30 days at a pressure of 50 bar - flow rate 15 l/m (4 gpm).  The fuel contains particles for this application and tests are carried out with varying particle sizes and applications.  To ensure that data from the tests is valid, it is critical that flow rate is accurately controlled.  The customer chose the Hydra-Cell pump because it met all these criteria.  It could handle particles without the risk of damaging mechanical seals (so no risk of fuel leaks).  It was easily and accurately controllable and it produced very low pulsation.

The institute has also used the pump on several test projects handling other liquids, including mineral oils.
