Phosphate injection

Hydra-Cell pumps were chosen for a high-pressure injection system in a boiler feed application.  The system has six Hydra-Cell D-04 pumps, which are used to inject a mixture of phosphate and water into a boiler drum.  Each system consists of a high-pressure side, injecting the mix at 2300 psi (159 bar), and a lower pressure side flushing at 700 psi (48 bar). Two pumps are plumbed in parallel for back up and additional capacity on each side of the system.

The concentrated phosphate is metered by a separate dosing pump into the suction of the D-04 model pump where it is mixed in line with water.  The mixture is then pumped by the D-04s at high pressure into the condensate stream of the boilers.  The Hydra-Cell pumps excel because they can provide a smooth positive displacement flow at low or high pressure consistently, something most other metering pumps cannot do.

Hydra-Cell pumps have no cups, packing or seals.  The D-04 is rated to 2500 psi (172 bar) making it the pump of choice for this high-pressure application.  Running continuously at 1450 rpm, the pumps will deliver 1.8 gpm (6.8 l/m).
